Gosh, I've never seen a bug like this before. We thought it was a stick till it started moving around. Does anyone know what kind of bug it is?

I am a real estate agent, not a photographer. Maybe it shows. As I scurry around the NY Finger Lakes showing property, I often find sights that are breathtakingly beautiful and I can’t help myself. It's a Walking Stick. :-) Do a Google search on the phrase "walking stick" and you'll find a fair bit of interesting information.
Love your photographs. I lived in upstate New York (around Syracuse and Rome) for some years and I well remember the beautiful countryside but seeing your photos really brought it all back, so thanks.
Hmmmmm, Walking Stick. What an appropriate name. I will look it up. I spend a lot of time outdoors and have never noticed one before.
